A water main break led to a sinkhole opening on a downtown street over the weekend, according to city spokesperson Isabelle LeBlanc.

A home security camera showed a car driving on Gordon Street shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday, when the hole opened. The front passenger side of the car dipped into the opening.

LeBlanc said city crews worked at the site over the weekend and the hole has been temporarily filled. She said the city’s Public Works team plans to schedule the remainder of the fix in the coming days.
